Chenhung Chen’s latest series of relief sculptures marks a sophisticated evolution in the dialogue between industrial utility and ancient craft. What began in 2015 as a visceral reaction to the raw materials of a studio renovation—discarded conduits and copper wiring—has matured into a mastery of "industrial weaving."

Chen’s process is one of structural transformation. By repurposing the literal nervous system of our modern world—cables, stereo wires, and conduits—she bridges the gap between the rigid and the fluid. A pivotal 2019 commission for Hosa Technology pushed this experimentation to its technical limit, requiring a radical departure from traditional assembly. The result was a proprietary binding technique using coated 26-gauge wire that mirrors the intricate logic of basket weaving.
