Diana Taylor and Javier Proenza as they discuss her oeuvre, inspiration, and her first US exhibition.

We're please to welcome you to watch and listen to an insightful conversation with Diana Taylor and Javier Proenza as they delve into her artistic journey, inspirations and her exhibition at DON'T LOOK Projects.
Diana Taylor's Flotsam and Jetsam addresses the current digital "slop" created by AI, which blurs all images. Through her practice, Taylor reveals the looming threat of cultural blindness by artfully combining distinct visual grammars. She layers elements like Gustave Doré's woodblock prints and other patterns onto a pixel grid, highlighting the convergence of analog and digital. Her work acts as a continuous process of resolution and obfuscation, using pattern as friction to expose moments when meaning dissolves and history is reshaped by an abundance of imagery.
Javier Proenza, an artist with a global upbringing as the son of UN diplomats, will host this talk. His diverse practice—painting, sculpture, video, installation—critiques contemporary absurdities. Notably, in 2018, Proenza launched What's My Thesis?, a podcast ingeniously designed to offer free artist mentorship, showcasing his unique approach to the art world.
Diana Taylor's solo exhibition Flotsam and Jetsamis on view at DON’T LOOK Projects in association with SLQS Gallery from July 19 through Saturday, August 30.
