This work finds its conceptual core in a profound moment from Indian mythology—the revelation of the divine within the mundane. The piece draws from the narrative of the young Krishna who, after being playfully accused of eating dirt by his brother, is confronted by his mother.

When Krishna finally opens his mouth to prove his innocence, his mother does not find handfuls of earth; instead, she is struck by a terrifying and sublime vision of the entire universe—the stars, the planets, and the totality of existence—contained within the child.

In this sculpture, Chen explores that exact tension: the transition from the physical, "earthen" material to a boundless, cosmic perspective. It serves as a visual metaphor for the artist’s own process, where industrial, discarded materials are transformed into a complex internal architecture that mirrors the vastness of the world around us.
